Looking forward to welcoming you back!

We are delighted to let you know that here at Quality Hotel Youghal, we will be opening ALL our self-catering accommodation from 2nd June. This includes our Holiday Homes and two-bedroom Apartment Suites. The Hotel, Restaurant, and Bar will remain closed for 2021.

Part of any great holiday includes being able to enjoy good food and we have this covered! Our Head Chef, Kieran, has set up ‘Happy Grillmore’s’ pop-up kitchen just outside the hotel. He serves a scrumptious choice of all your favourites, such as buttermilk chicken burgers, sizzling steaks, beer-batter fish and chips, and much more besides. If it’s a sweet tooth and coffee you crave, Happy Bakemore’s is serving delicious desserts, pastries, and cakes on the sun terrace daily from 10 am.   Opening shortly is Nuno’s Crêperie, another pop-up delight for the terrace. Additionally, our authentic Napoli Pizza oven will be fully operational for take-aways for June, July, and August.

Here, at the Quality Hotel Youghal, our priority is the health and safety of our guests. Covid-19 is still with us and not everyone will be fully vaccinated by the summer. Our decision not to open the hotel, restaurant, and bar this year is based on the positive feedback from our 2020 visitors. They noted that they were more at ease knowing the facilities were not open and their children would be safer in the controlled environment of self-catering accommodation.

Club V Leisure Centre will open for members only from 2nd June. (Please book in advance) The Leisure Centre will not be available for our self-catering guests initially (subject to review). This is because numbers would be too high for the required self-distancing safety measures.

We wish you good health and well-being and look forward to welcoming you back to Redbarn  this summer.

From Allen McEnery, General Manager, and all the team at the Quality Hotel Youghal.

An incredible boost for tourism at the seaside destination of Youghal!

Progress is well underway on the extension to the 400-metre boardwalk from Youghal to Claycastle, it is going to extend by 1.5 km – all the way to Redbarn Beach!

With COVID-19 restrictions earlier in the year, commencement of work on this Cork County Council project was somewhat delayed, but great progress is being made now and it is exciting to see the development snaking its way out to Redbarn.

Once completed, the route will form part of the National Coastal Walking Route, providing a formal pedestrian walkway from Redbarn Beach to Youghal Town Centre. The route stretches along Claycastle Beach to Redbarn Beach, parallel to the reed beds of Ballyvergan Marsh. Ballyvergan Marsh is the largest freshwater coastal marsh in County Cork and accommodates several plant and bird species, it is zoned as a special amenity and is also an important breeding site for migratory birds.

Completion of the route will improve access to Ballyvergan Marsh, enhancing the natural heritage experience of walkers – locals and visitors alike. It will raise awareness to the ecological significance of the area’s unique marsh and coastal zone. Additionally, with the development of the upcoming Midleton to Youghal Greenway (which also passes through Ballyvergan), the Youghal area is going to become even more attractive as a ‘must visit’ destination.

Quality Hotel Youghal 2020 Travelers’ Choice Winner

In the top 10% of Tourism Businesses WORLDWIDE!

Quality Hotel Youghal is delighted to announce that it has been awarded the prestigious Travelers Choice Award 2020 by the renowned Trip Advisor organization. For several years, the resort has been voted in the top 10 family friendly Hotels in Ireland in Trip Advisor’s Annual Awards listing and this additional accolade is great news for the resort.

Travelers Choice (formerly Certificate of Excellence) recognizes businesses that earn consistently great user reviews. The winners are among just 10% of all businesses on Trip Advisor worldwide. Proprietor, Allen McEnery, was delighted with the news. Allen commented, “This is a major honour for the hotel and our team, is the culmination of an extensive program of refurbishment and upgrades undertaken over the past few winters. It is also testimony the quality of our service and our staff’s focus on customer care.” Allen went on to note, “This year is difficult for everyone in the tourism sector and I know that many of our regular clientele were disappointed that we did open our hotel and self-catering apartments. We felt the health and safety of our guests and staff was paramount. Nonetheless, many of our past guests were still able to book into our Holiday Homes, which are officially compliant with the Failte Ireland COVID-19 Safety Charter, and they have been enjoying our magnificent Blue Flag beach and the wide open spaces here at Redbarn.”

Some recent Trip Advisor Reviews

Fantastic:
…We were delighted that the restrictions were lifted, and we could leave our county!
This was our second stay at the hotel and it did not disappoint. From start to finish we had a ball. The house and location are fantastic. 2 minutes’ walk to the beautiful blue flag Redbarn beach…. Happy Gilmores food truc, which was open each day outside the hotel, provided restaurant quality food and they cook the best chips I’ve ever tasted!

Fantastic Stay
Just back from three days in Sunny Youghal. QH was ideal for the family. We got a beautiful 4 bed house that was spotless. We were so impressed. It was immaculate with plenty of towels, Pans, Glasses, plates etc. (there was 5 of us) We were a stone’s throw from the beach and blessed with the weather. Sara @reception was a gem to deal with. She was so helpful and gave us some cracking tips on things to do with the Kiddies.Although the facilities were not opened, it did not hinder our stay one bit!

Great Staycation
Really enjoyed our recent stay … The houses were very clean and spacious and just a stroll from lovely Redbarn beach. The staff were so helpful and friendly, from the receptionist at check in to the caretaker on duty. There is a fabulous food van right next to the houses that make really delicious food! Would highly recommend for a lovely beach break!

Beach Getaway
Just spent a few days on the Quality Holiday Homes, was very impressed. The house was very big and kept immaculate. The beach is only a few minutes stroll away. We were blessed with good weather so was an added bonus. I would recommend for those that want to stay close to beach but yet away from the hustle ‘n bustle of a town

Family Holiday 2020
Have to say we had a brilliant time. Reminds me when I was young going on holidays. Kids loved being so close to the beach. The houses where spotless clean and everyone was very friendly. Can’t wait to go back.

Summer Plans for the Quality Hotel, Youghal

News Update re Covid-19

As we are all aware, government measures are currently in place to curb the spread of Covid-19 which means that hotels will not be allowed to reopen until the 20th of July. Here, at the Quality Hotel Youghal, we have been seriously considering the options for the health and safety of our guests post July 20th. We have now taken a tough decision and decided not to open our Hotel, Self-Catering Apartments, Restaurant or Bar for the 2020 Summer Season. Club V Leisure Centre will re-open for members as soon as Government guidelines permit.

Our decision was not taken lightly and was reached through careful deliberation and feedback from customers. We looked at the demographics of our guests, which are primarily Irish families and we had to take their safety first. We realised that it would be impossible to guarantee adherence from children to the necessary measures and social distancing requirements that would prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Nevertheless, our Holiday Homes ARE available to rent from the 20th July. With just our Holiday Homes on offer, we feel that parents will have a much more relaxing holiday break. They will have the wide-open spaces and fresh sea air of Redbarn Beach to enjoy and great family time to look forward to – without having to continually monitor their children’s smallest action. It will be good old-fashioned family fun, like building sandcastles, going for walks on the beach, scampering through Glenbower Woods or even visiting Fota Wildlife Park (which is now open for registered bookings ) or other attractions that may be open, such as Leahy’s Open Farm. There are also a number of take-away options available locally to ensure that everyone gets a holiday!

Special Notice – Our Holiday Homes are AVAILABLE NOW for employees of businesses and industries who need to stay in the area.

For any queries, please email info@qualityhotelyoughal.com or tel. 024 93050.  During these temporary measures, our emails and phone lines will be monitored from Monday – Friday, 10.00am – 2.00pm.

Thank you for your ongoing support and patience during these extraordinary times. We wish you good health and well-being and look forward to welcoming you to Redbarn in the future when this has passed.

Finally, to the workers on the frontline, we cannot thank you enough for your dedication.
