Moby Dick Festival 2015

Bank Holiday Weekend Fun for all!

The Moby Dick Festival takes place from the 29th – 31st May in the town of Youghal. Youghal was the set location for this epic movie, and the Youghal Festival celebrates its close ties with Melville’s novel that was filmed here. The event sees a great program of free outdoor events, for young and old. As the saying goes, there will be something fro everyone!

Films will be screened on the Eastern Gable of the clock gate, and there will be loads of opportunities to meet some of the local extras from the film – sure to recount stories from those filming days. A colourful ocean parade will open the festival with music, drumming, and costumes. Kids can enjoy a monster teddy bears picnic and treasure hunts, face painting, games, music and sports in the park. An exciting ball race on Windmill Hill is also sure to thrill spectators who are sure to cheer the winner at sea level.
For camera buffs, a competition will run throughout the event for the best action shots. There will be a street market with aromas and flavours to tickle your taste buds. Storytelling, art exhibitions and Readings will feature, along with street music, sea shanties and high flying acrobats.
Why not pop along to experience all the best that Youghal has to offer this Bank Hoiday Weekend.
