Major improvements completed in our upgrading schedule!
Quality Hotel, Youghal is living up to its ‘Quality’ name with the completion of the most ambitious renovation programme ever undertaken at the hotel. General Manager Allen McEnery explained, “We have totally refurbished and upgraded an entire self-catering apartment block. This wasn’t just giving the rooms a fresh lick of paint.
The kitchen/living-room areas have been completely renovated, with new tiled flooring, furniture and kitchen fittings – and with brand-new equipment throughout. The bathrooms were completely redone with ‘top of the market’ fixtures and tiling and the bedrooms have also been refurbished with smart new carpets. So, this means that we now have three tiers of apartments on offer – Standard, Seaview and Superior.”
The upgrades are part of a long-term plan, but the enhancements didn’t just stop there. Allen went on to note, “The locker rooms in our Club V Leisure Centre have been entirely redone and are now of the highest standard that you will find anywhere in Ireland. We also gave the restrooms in the Coast Bar a complete makeover. And speaking about our food and beverage service, Executive Chef, Kieran O’Shaughnessy, has developed quite a local following – and it is not just for special occasions such as birthdays or first communions. There is a steady flow of people coming out from Youghal, enjoying our wide selection of great locally sourced food, Sunday carvery lunch and our stunning sea views!”
There are lots of exciting happenings taking place around Youghal this year and new developments coming on-stream. The Quality Hotel will be pulling out all the stops to facilitate ‘Ironman Ireland Cork, which will be taking place in June. Talking of events, well-established and new festivals, such as the Songbird Festival, are bringing an expanding number of visitors to the town.
In the pipeline for development is Youghal’s famous ‘Boardwalk’. This is to be extended all the way to Redbarn’s Blue Flag beach – immediately in front of the hotel! Finally, one of the most significant developments for the entire region will be the construction of a ‘Greenway’ running along the route of the old railroad line between Midleton and Youghal. This development has recently been given the green light by Cork County Council.
The Greenway will be approximately 23km in length and will also traverse an area known as Ballvergan Marsh, where it is proposed to create a 2.58km walkway as a wildlife viewing point. Allen noted, “This Greenway will offer a safe environment for our residents. The gentle gradient will appeal to leisure walkers and cyclists of any age while providing a safe and attractive facility for all abilities”.
Roll on 2019!
